{"id":49,"date":"2009-02-08T13:25:00","date_gmt":"2009-02-08T18:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/philvelez.com\/blog\/?p=49"},"modified":"2009-02-08T13:25:00","modified_gmt":"2009-02-08T18:25:00","slug":"coldplay-and-adele-should-be-big-grammy-winners-tonight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/philvelez.com\/blog\/?p=49","title":{"rendered":"Coldplay and Adele Should Be Big Grammy Winners Tonight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I think <a href=\"http:\/\/hidedad.com\/blog\/2009\/02\/08\/profile-coldplay\/\">Coldplay<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bnd.com\/yourlife\/story\/641029.html\">Adele<\/a> will be winners at tonight\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/pinayentertainment.blogspot.com\/2009\/02\/51st-annual-grammy-awards-2009.html\">51st Annual Grammy Awards<\/a>. Coldplay is up for album and record of the year, as well as best rock band and pop group performance. I listened to this British band\u2019s album all last fall and enjoyed it greatly. It did have to grow on me, however when it did I appreciated the band\u2019s overall talent. I&#8217;ve heard of the group before this album, but now I&#8217;m a fan.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"http:\/\/rcm.amazon.com\/e\/cm?t=velsvie-20&#038;o=1&#038;p=8&#038;l=bpl&#038;asins=B0018QOIXU&#038;fc1=000000&#038;IS2=1&#038;lt1=_blank&#038;m=amazon&#038;lc1=0000FF&#038;bc1=000000&#038;bg1=FFFFFF&#038;f=ifr\" style=\"align:left;padding-top:5px;width:131px;height:245px;padding-right:10px;\" align=\"left\" scrolling=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>One of my favorite soulful singing divas these days is British singer Adele. Her voice is rhythmically rich and strong and her album has some wonderfully written songs. Adele performed last fall on <a href=\"http:\/\/defamer.com\/5144576\/view-shocker-whoopi-goldberg-smokes-the-pot\">The View<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nbc.com\/fred\/2009\/01\/paul_ruddbeyonce.php\">Saturday Night Live<\/a> and should hopefully win either song of the year and\/or best new artist. My favorite song is <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Cold Shoulder<\/span>. It has a really cool beat and stands apart from the rest of the ballads on her album. <\/p>\n<p>The Brits may make their powerful presence felt widely if <a href=\"http:\/\/www.buffalonews.com\/entertainment\/music\/story\/570097.html\">Leona Lewis<\/a> wins best record with her gigantic hit <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Bleeding Love<\/span>. I won\u2019t predict a winner in every category, however there is one that is tough to forecast.  Best pop collaboration might be a nail biter. I&#8217;m leaning toward either <a href=\"http:\/\/social.zune.net\/artist\/Keys\/B7290700-0600-11DB-89CA-0019B92A3933\/overview\">Alicia Keys<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shoppingblog.com\/cgi-bin\/sblog.pl?sblog=207093\">John Mayer<\/a> for <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Lesson Learned<\/span> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.idollive.net\/2009\/02\/idol-live-predix-alums-at-grammys.html\">Jordin Sparks<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/chris-daily.com\/?p=739\">Chris Brown<\/a> for <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">No Air<\/span>, however this category is really a toss-up.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, I have to root for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aceshowbiz.com\/news\/view\/00021853.html\">Jennifer Hudson<\/a> to win best R&#038;B Album. This lady can sing and is the epitome of a soulful singer. I have not heard the full album but I think she is the one to beat. And after the horrific personal year she has had, my heart and soul hopes for win for Ms. Hudson. <\/p>\n<p>So I\u2019m done. Let\u2019s see how well or bad I do with my predictions. Some choices seem like no-brainers but you never know with award shows.
